Percy Wyly II of the Dallas Federal Bureau of Investigation office said Saturday. Two other men wanted in connection with the bank robbery, in which $17,692 was taken, are still at large, Wyly reported. Charged in complaints filed before United States Commissioner John Davis in Dallas were Fred Pair, Cochran County ranch man, and Ollie Oliver Melton, 38 of Asher, Okla. Pair is a former deputy sheriff of Dickens County. He was taken in custody at his home near Bledsoe, Cochran County. His bond was set at $25,000 by the United States Commissioner at Lubbock, Wyly said. Melton was arrested at Shawnee, Okla. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment hearing at Oklahoma City and is being held in default of $50,000 bond, Wyly reported. In the robbery two men entered the bank while a third remained in the get-away automobile, which had been stolen in Lubbock the day before. Prior to leaving the bank the bandits forced employees and customers into the vault. The car was found abandoned several hours after the robbery. Wyly said the hideout for the bandits was located on a ranch near Bledsoe. Officers found $997 in bills buried in a jar there. Pooling of information gathered by the FBI, Texas Rangers, Cochran County deputies and Lubbock police led to the arrests, Wyly said.
