Jim Clampitt, age 92, of Lubbock and formerly of Morton died January 1, 2013 in Lubbock. He was born January 7, 1920 to James Thomas JT and Mae (Haley) Clampitt in Newark, Texas. He married Virginia Griffith in Roswell, N.M. on June 9, 1944. She preceded him in death in 1999. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Irene Joplin. Mr. Clampitt had moved to the Morton area in 1950 from Ft. Worth. He was a member of the East Side Church of Christ in Morton, where he served as an Elder. He had served his country during World War II in the US Army Air Corp. He had farmed in the Morton Community. Survivors include his son, Michael Clampitt and wife Sue of Lubbock; daughter, Jo Anne Tucker of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; 20 great- grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
