The cabin was once lived in by the Rev. Reed in the late 1800s. The logs were hauled from Grubbs Canyon by wagons and teams. The huge cedar log in front of the cabin was used for a salt trough for livestock. A trench was cut down the middle of the log to hold the salt. The fresno leaning against the cabin was used to build tanks in the early days. Teams of mules or horses pulled the immplement.
