Concerning the memorial site itself, two loads of white caliche have been delivered to spread around the site, two memorial benches are being delivered soon, action has been taken to Purchase a piece of military equipment to be placed on the site and a new engraving is being planned. There have been several names submitted, but a few more are needed before the engraver will do the task. The committee is gratified with the success of the memorial project, but wants to make every effort to get the names of all the eligible veterans engraved on the memorial stone. If you have a family member or friend you want to add, you can contact the committee at 324 West Main in Bronte 76933, or call 473-2851 or 473-3761. A collector's pin will be issued for each name inscribed on the memorial. Landscaping has had to be Put off because of the drought. Also on the agenda was the possible naming of Texas Highway 158, from the city limits of Bronte to the city Limits of Robert Lee, to the Coke County Veterans Memorial Highway. The Committee has petitioned the county commimssioners to consider this at their next meeting. The committee would like to have a celebration at the memorial on Veterans' Day if the new names have been engraved by then. Let's have A red, white and blue celebration.
