Morris, Sr. of Mt. Vernon, Washington, former Bronte residents, will be honored in observance of their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception on Saturday, June 13th, from 2-4 pm in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church, Bronte, Texas. Mr. Morris and the former Dannie Welch were married June 10, 1948, at the First Baptist Church, Canadian, Texas, by the pastor Rev. Fern A. Miller. Mr. Morris a graduate of Baylor University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary served as pastor of the Lesley Baptist Church, Lesley, Texas; the First Baptist Church, Notrees, Texas; and the First Baptist Church, Bronte, Texas. (The pastorate of First Baptist Church, Bonte was from 1964-1974.) Also he was Area Missionary for the Brady-Coleman-Runnels Baptist Area from 1974-1978, (living in Ballinger, Texas.) He served as Director of Missions for the Mt. Baker Baptist Association in Washington State from 1978 until he retired in June 1992. Mrs. Morris served as secretary for the Brady-Coleman-Runnels Baptist Area in Texas and was appointed along with Mr. Morris by the Southern Baptist Home Mission Board to serve in Washington State. The reception is being hosted by the couples' three children; Keith and Mixy Morris of Coral Springs, Florida; Phyllis and David Middleton of Renton, Washington, and Becky and Gary Gragg of Abilene, Texas; and three grandchildren, Jared, Colton and Parker Gragg of Abilene, Texas.
