Scott celebrated their golden wedding anniversary November 27, 1997, at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Hines. The occasion was hosted by their children in attendance: Steve and Brenda Hines, and Merritt Scott, all of Bronte; DeWitt Scott of Grape Creek; and Ray and Viva Caldwell of Conroe. Both were born and raised in Coke County and have spent most of their lives here. Until recently, they owned a farm north of Bronte and operated Scott Butane Company for many years. Joe Edward Scott of Bronte and Wilma Louise Roberts of Robert Lee were married November 15, 1947, in San Angelo. Helping celebrate the special occasion were many of their friends and family; Jim Ethylan and Tommy Pate, Shorty, Lana, Caleb and Carrie Walls, Joel, Jamie and Jaden Dement, all of Baird; Carolyn Reichenau and Linda Paulk of San Angelo; Doris and Dolph Richards of Norton; Becky Davis and childdren of College Station; Charliebelle Bagwell, Wilburn Wrinkle, Cecil Coalson, Charlotte Blackburn, Zelma Caperton, and Maxine Percifull, all of Bronte; and J. C. and Jewel Wallace of Robert Lee. Grandchildren of the couple in attendance were Tina Hines of Midland, Kyle and Koby Calkwell of Conroe, and Terence Scott of Bronte.
