The couple was married May 1, 1951 at the Central Baptist Church in Bronte with a double ring candle light ceremony. W. A. Reeves, pastor of the church, officiated the ceremony. Attending the couple was Betty Scott, matron of honor and Billy Don Labenske, best man. Loretha Wrinkle Knight accompanied by Maxine Labenske presented the traditional wedding music. A reception was held immediately following the ceremony in the home of the bride's parents, Mr. & Mrs. Walter Scott. Mr. & Mrs. Noah Pruitt, Sr. were the parents of Noah Jr. Both families were early pioneers being some of the first families to come to Coke County before the turn of the century. After W.W.II, Noah Jr. was co-owner of Pruitts Grocery for 13 1/2 years. He retired as postmaster of Bronte with 33 years of government service, serving the people of Bronte and Coke County longer than any other postmaster. Dorthey worked under Civil Service 35 years and retired as postmaster of Carlsbad. they have lived in Bronte all their lives with the exception of during W.W.II. They have one daughter, the love of their life. Norma Pruitt Allbright of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas and the joy of their life, grandson Brian Pruitt Allbright of Little Rock, Arkansas. A celebration is planned for a later date. -------------------------------------------------------------------- PROCLAMATION Whereas: Noah Pruitt, Jr. and Dorthey Pruitt celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary and Whereas, their life together has been one of service to God, Family, and our Community, we are pleased to join with their many good friends and relatives in extending our best wishes on this happy occasion" and Now, therefore, I do proclaim the day of May 1, 2001 Noah and Dorthey Pruitt Family Day in our community, extending to them and their fine family on behalf of the City of Bronte our sincere congratulations on this 50th Anniversary, and our best wishes for many years of health and happiness in the years ahead.
