Service Sr. to be Honored on Fitieth Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Service Sr. of Robert Lee will be honored with a reception Sunday, November 7, from 3 to 5 pm at the New Recreation Center in Robert Lee. The event will mark their 50th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Service were married November 7, 1926, at the First Baptist Church in Altus, Oklahoma. Mrs. Service is the former Ruth McCutchen. They have lived in Robert Lee all their life. Mr. Service was County Commissioner eight years and served on the Soil Conservation Committee and the ASCS Committee and is a stock farmer. Mrs. Service was a member of the Freindship Home Demonstration Club. She is a homemaker. Hosting the reception will be the couple's two sons and daughters in law, Mr. and Mrs J.W. Service Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Butch Service, both of Robert lee, and the honoreess's grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Joe (Kathy) Brasher of Forsan, Mr. and Mrs John Service, Mr. and Mrs Jay Service, and Misses Konny, Kaylon, and Johanna Service of Robert Lee. Mr. and Mrs. Service have four great grandchildren. Warren and Jody Brasher, and Scott and Jean Kay Service. Friends and relatives of the couple are invited to attend. -------------------------------------- Robert Lee Observer, November 11, 1976 Large Crowd Here For Anniversary One hundred and sixty-seven relatives and friends attended the reception honoring Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Service Sr. on their fifeth wedding anniversary. The celebration was held Sunday Nov. 7, at the new Recreation Center in Robert Lee. Hosting the open house were the couple's two sons and their wives, Mr. and Mrs.J.W. Service Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Butch Service, and their six grandchildren. Glenda Service registered guests, Granddaughters and granddaughters in law served the cake and punch. Fall colors were used in the decoration scheme. The register table was covered with gold cloth while the serving table was laid with a lace cloth over gold. The fall arrangement of bronze mums, oak leaves, carnations and gold candles and the three tiered cake adorned the serving table. Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Escue of Del Rio, Mrs. Albert (Denman) Baze of Fort Worth and Mrs. Berta (Denman) Bennett of Cleburne. Numerous friends and relatives from San Angelo, Sterling City, Carlsbad, Miles and Bronte attended the event.
