Her birthdate was Oct. 16, but the celebration took place on the following Saturday. She was born in 1902 in Sonora, Texas, to Bob and Katie Glasscock. She was educated in the Sonora school system, and was salutatorian of her graduating class of six. She attended Howard Payne University for a year, then returned home to marry Sid Evans on May 15, 1922. They lived in Sonora from 1922 to 1935 and in San Angelo from 1935 to 1947. They moved to their ranch near Bronte at that time. They enjoyed 72 1/2 years of marriage. Children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren loved to visit Ma and Pa at the ranch. It was a home filled with laughter and good food. They still enjoy coming to the ranch and visiting Ma at the nursing home, but they sure do miss her good cooking. The party was hosted by son and daughter-in-law Bobby and Billie Jean Evans of San Angelo, and daughter and son-in-law Jo and Ed Winton of Fort Worth. Four grandchildren and spouses and nine great grandchildren attended. They came from Fort Worth, Dallas, Pflugerville, and Nashville, Tennessee. One grandson, Kerry Evans and his wife Terri of Austin were unable to attend because he was ill, but they made their presence felt with a huge bouquet of 100 carnations.
