(This article immedicately following in the same issue) Silas Conner To Silver Creek, For Buffalo Meat in 1876, Came Back to Stay The late Silas Conner was one of the first comers to the Silver country. His first trip was down Silver Creek in 1876 for a load of buffalo meat, when buffalo were being killed wholesale for their hides, and to clear the ranges for ranching and discourage the Indians from coming down here from the reservations. Mr. Conner liked the country so well he came back in 1882. By that time there were few buffalot left. He went to work for the Snyders, later establishing his own ranch near Silver.
