On Sunday, July 3rd, a special presentation was made by Larry Galyardt and his sister Gayle Teel (they are the great-grandchildren of George Portis Kirkland). Lary and Gayle presented Ollie K. Hogue (their grandmother) a beautiful corsage and a huge cake in honor of her 100th birthday. Mrs. Hogue resides in Duncanville. Honor was also given to Carroll Robbins and his wife Lillian (both are 90 years old). Carrol is the son of Bus and Jettie Robbins and a grandson of G. P. Kirkland and Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Robbins. Others honored were Helen Kirkland (91), widow of Buddy Kirkland and daughter-in-law of G. P. Kirkland; and also Annie Williams (88) of Midland, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bus Robbins and granddaughter of G. P. Kirkland and Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Robbins. A bountiful meal was enjoyed by all with many pictures being taken, stories told, and many memories shared. A "much looked-forward to" time of swimming was enjoyed by many of the young people. Attending were: Larry and Donna Galyardt of Wichita, Kansas; Sam Payne, Jody and Julie Allen and Children Joanna & Joseph of Abilene; Jettie Moore of Big Spring; Wilma and James Carroll, Nancy and Brooke Roderick, Gayle Galladay with Mel and Kimberly all of Dallas; Ollie K. Hogue and Norman Hogue of Duncanville; Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Robbins of Fort Stockton; Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Dickerson of Pasadena. Coming from Midland were: Ronnie and Carolyn Robbins, Barbara, Lindsey, Courtney and McKenzey Jackson, Annie Williams, Bettie Jean Chambliss, Regina Clary, Lance Bonike, Norman and Janet Koonce. John and Judy Cockburn came from Rowlett. Gay Nell Meyers from Wimberley. Gwen Kirkland, Christi and Haley Evans from Tulia. Gayle and David Teel from San Antonio. Attending from Bronte were Maxine and Bill Labenske, Helen Kirkland, Katherine Patterson, Carroll and Lil Robbins, Alonzo and Kay Robbins. The following attending from San Angelo: Maxine and Ernest Allen, Jo Anne Patterson, Edd Roy Patterson and Carlene, Jettie, Glenn and Susan McKnight, Sherry Jackson, Wayne, Stefanie Keel and daughter McKenna, Clif, Renee and Drew Robbins, Portis and Mary Robbins.
