J. Yarbrough, 84, a resident of Coke County 53 years, died suddenly of a heart attack at 4 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20. She had been in failing health and passed away in a Roscoe hospital where she had been a patient ten days. Services were held in the Robert Lee Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Warren Ellis of Junction, former Robert Lee minister, officiating. The Rev. Travis McNair, pastor, was unable to assist because of illness. Burial was in Robert Lee cemetery under direction of Clift Funeral Home. Grandsons serving as pallbearers were Maurice Yarbrough and Hays Prince of Robert Lee, Curtis Yarbrough of San Angelo, E. J. Thomason of Dallas, Dale Meixner of Junction and Victor Meixner of Paint Rock. Callie Clementine Read was born in Tennessee, Oct. 26, 1873. She came to Texas when a small child and lived near Cleburne in Johnson County. She married J. J. Yarbrough at Cuba, Texas, Nov. 15, 1891. They lived south of Tyler in Smith County and came to Coke County in 1904. The family resided in the Valley View community southeast of Robert Lee before the couple retired to their home in Robert Lee a number of years ago. Mr. Yarbrough died July 24, 1947. There were nine children, five of whom survive. They include Bryan Yarbrough of Robert Lee, Boyd Yarbrough of Snyder, Mrs. E. A. (Velma) Thomason of Robert Lee, Elmo Yarbrough of Troup, Tex., and Mrs. Frank (Naomi) Meixner of Junction. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grand- children.
