Submitted by Jo Collier - jomar@wcc.net 11 Oct 2000 ***************************************************************** The Robert Lee Observer,12 November, 1954, Robert Lee, TX Miss Josephine Millican, 70, former Coke County resident, died at her home at 215 E. 41st St., in San Angelo at 5:20 p.m. Friday. She had been in failing health two years. The daughter of early day Coke County residents, Miss Millican was born April 20, 1884, in San Saba County. She moved to Coke County in 1895 and joined the Pecan Baptist Church at the age of 15. She was a member of the Lake View Baptist Church in San Angelo. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. in the Lake View Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Cotten, pastor, officiating. Burial was at 5 p.m. Sunday in the Paint Creek Cemetery at Edith community, west of Robert Lee. Burial was by the grave of her father who died in 1936. (David F. Millican) Survivors include her mother Mrs. Mary E. Millican of San Angelo; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Burk and Mrs. R. A. Linney, both of San Angelo and Mrs. D. Walker of Robert Lee; four brothers, W. M. Millican, Pleas W. Millican and C. C. Millican all of Edith, and Charlie Millican of San Angelo. Pallbearers were nephews. They were Henry Vernon Burk and J. D. Burk, both of San Angelo; Elton Millican of Andrews; Finis Millican of Robert Lee; Howard Millican of Odessa; Ralph Walker of Robert Lee; Stanley Millican of Sweetwater and Turney Linney of San Angelo.
