Obituary: A. C. McAulay, November 1951 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines March 2015 *********************************************************************** Bronte Enterprise, Coke County, TX - November 1951 Nov. 1951 Funeral Services Held Wednesday For A. C. McAulay Funeral services for A. C. McAulay were held from the First Methodist Church in Bronte Wednesday afternoon at 2 p. m. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Newby Davis and Clift Funeral Homes. Rev. J. E. Fuller, pastor of the Bronte Methodist Church, officiated. Mrs. I. M. Cumbie was organist for the services. McAulay was born December 1, 1908 at Maverick and attended the Bronte and Maverick schools. He married Miss Bonnie Pairish October 2, 1932. He was farming three miles north of Maverick. A member of the Methodist Church, he was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. Masonic rites were conducted at the graveside. MeAulay was killed Monday morning when a gun accidentally discharged, hitting him in the abdomen. He had stopped his car at a gate on the Claude Gentry Ranch and apparently was reaching for the gun to shoot at something when the accident occurred. A man on the way to see Gentry found him still alive but he was dead upon arrival at a Ballinger hospital. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Bonnie McAulay; a daughter, Mrs. Eddie Sue Carter of Roy, Utah and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. McAulay of Maverick. Pallbearers were Don Edmiaston, W. H. Maxwell, Jr., Pete Gentry, Claude Gentry, Leona Bowden and Royce Lee.
