Obituary: Richard Brown Byrd, June 20, 1969 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines July 2015 *********************************************************************** The Bronte Enterprise, Coke County, June 27, 1969 Services Held for Richard B. Byrd Funeral services were held Monday in the Wayside community in Armstrong County for Richard Brown Byrd, 66, who died June 20 in a Sacramento, California hospital after a long illness of lung cancer. Services were conducted by the Rev. Roland Moore, Wayside Baptist pastor. Mr. Byrd was born Aug. 24, 1902 in Robert Lee. He was the son of the late Wylie G. and Eva Wrice Nunn Byrd. He married Euphemia Luzetty LaGrone on June 5, 1921 in Bronte. A member of the Baptist Church, Mr. Byrd was a retired farmer and rancher. Since 1924 the family had lived at Wayside, Silverton, New Mexico and California. Survivors include his wife of Sacramento; five daughters; Mrs. John Morgan of Pomona, Calif., Mrs. John F. Toles of Happy, Mrs. Corless of Bennington, Okla., Mrs. Norman Lee and Mrs. Bob Voight, both of Sacramento; one brother, J. W. Byrd of Happy; three sisters; Mrs. J. W.
