Burial was in Divide Cemetery in Coke County. The Rev. Durward L. Rutland, pastor of First Baptist Church in Water Valley, officiated. Mrs. Chapman died in a Fort Worth hospital at 12:05 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Chapman was born Dec. 12, 1868 in Tupelo, Miss. She was married to Andeson S. Chapman, Jan. 8, 1890, in Egan community. He died in 1924. The couple lived in the Egan community before coming to Coke County in 1891 via covered wagon to settle in the Divide community. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jim Booth, who settled in Texas in 1883. Mrs. Chapman and her husband homesteaded land near Divide and ultimately acquired 1,760 acres of land at $1 an acre - which was still in Mrs. Chapman's possession. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Susie Shelton of Burleson, Mrs. Alice Lobb of Cleburne and Mrs. Nannie O'Neal of San Pablo, Calif.; two sons, Bill Chapman of Quemado and Cooper Chapman of Water Valley; 25 grandchildren, 43 great granchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren.
