M. Simpson, 82, former Robert Lee businessman, were held at 2 p.m. Friday in Robert Lee Baptist Church. The Rev. Bill Beaty, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Robert Lee Cemetery under direction of Williams Funeral Home. Mr. Simpson died at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, in an El Paso hospital, where he had been treated since the previous Saturday for a heart ailment. Born in Tennessee, he came to Robert Lee with his parents, the late Rev. and Mrs. W. K. Simpson, in 1901, when his father was appointed pastor of Robert Lee Methodist Church. He went to Oklahoma where he was in business with an uncle for a number of years. He married Bert McCabe in 1911, at the McCabe Ranch south of Robert Lee. He established a grocery business here and operated it until his retirement in 1935. He then moved to El Paso, where he lived until his death. Survivors include his wife; one son, Wilbur King Simpson of Mesilla Park, N. M.; a brother, Mark Simpson, of Norman, Okla.; three sisters, Mrs. W. G. Hunt of Powder Springs, Ga., Mrs. Cortez Russell and Mrs. Bruce Clift, both of Robert Lee; and five grandchildren. Newphews were pall bearers including Victor McCabe, Wayne McCabe, Jeff McCabe, Fred McCabe, Jr., Marvin Simpson, James Counts, all of Robert Lee. Truett McCabe of Andrews and Bob Northcutt.
