Obituary: Eula (Mrs. J. D.) Leonard, March 27, 1973 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines Mar 2015 *********************************************************************** The Bronte Enterprise, Coke County, TX - March 30, 1973 Funeral services for Mrs. J. D. Leonard (Eula) Leonard, 86, were held at 10 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church. The pastor, the Rev. Harry Morris, officiated. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Newby Funeral Home. Mrs. Leonard died at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Shannon Hospital in San Angelo. She was born October 23, 1886, in Weed, NM, and moved to Coke County in 1912 and was a school teacher in the Bronte area. Her husband Dr. J. D. Leonard, was a pioneer physician at Bronte. He died in 1961. Mrs. Leonard was a Baptist. Survivors include two sons, Dwain Leonard of Big Spring and Woodrow Leonard of Pueblo, Colorado; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Emagene Jackson of Amaraillo; a sister Mrs. Alice Phillips of Ozona; a brother, Ernest Lockhart of California; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-greatgrandchild. Pallbearers were Craig Chumley of San Angelo, T. F. Sims, J. B. Mackey, L. O. Clark, Earl F. Glenn and Rev. C. R.
