MCCUTCHEN, PIONEER RANCHER Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct 27, at 2 pm for William Madison McCutchen, 85, Coke County pioneer stock farmer. The last rites were held in Robert Lee Baptist Church with the pastor, the Reverend Bill Beaty and the Reverend Horace Bloodworth of Silver officiating. Burial was in Robert Lee Cemetery under the direction of Newby Funeral Home. Mr. McCutchen was born in Gatesville, July 24, 1885. He came to Coke County in 1889, the year the county was organized, with his parents, Mr. and Mrs W.W. McCutchen. His father was an early day tax assessor in the county, He was married to Miss Eva Rushing July 1, 1906 at Robert Lee. She died Dec. 13, 1962. Mr. McCutchen operated his stock farm in the Graham Valley community until recently. He had served as school trustee for Sanco, Edith, and Graham Valley. He was a member of the Sanco Baptist Church. Survivors include four sons, J D McCutchen of San Angelo, Wayne McCutchen of Amarillo, Madison McCutchen of San Antonio, and Bill McCutchen of Rosewll,NM; five daughters Mrs. J.W. (Ruth) Service of Robert Lee, Mrs. Laverne Cole of Roswell, NM, Mrs. Lendy (Yvonne) DeVoll of Robert Lee, Mrs. Bob (Hilda) Adkins and Mrs, Bobby (Joyce) Hood both of San Angelo, two sisters Mrs. Pearl Childress of Mesa, AZ, and Mrs. Grace Murtishaw of Bronte: 26 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews and cousins.
