Obituary: Leona Mae (Roberts) Wallace, October, 1977 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines November 2010 *********************************************************************** Robert Lee Observer, Robert Lee, Coke County, TX - October 7, 1977 WALLACE Funeral Thursday for Mrs. Wallace Services for Mrs. Calvin Wallace, 80, were held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Northside Church of Christ with James Beard of Junction officiating, assisted by Clyde Dukes of Robert Lee. Burial was in Robert Lee Cemetery under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Mrs. Wallace died suddenly at her home about 10:30 Tuesday morning of an apparent heart attack. She was born Leona Mae Roberts, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Green (Emma) Roberts, March 29, 1897, at Sweet Home, Lavaca County. She moved with her family to Coke County in 1903. She and Calvin Wallace were married Nov 10, 1924, in Robert Lee and except for one year spent at Portales, NM, (1935-1936) had lived in or near Robert Lee since their marriage. She was a housewife and a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband; two sons, J. C. Wallace Jr., and Royce Wallace of Robert Lee; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Mildred) Reese Jr. And Mrs Buddy (Edna) Havins, both of Robert Lee and Mrs. Travis (Marie) Allen of Englewood, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a sister, Mrs. Oda (Alice) Benton of Robert Lee.
