All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/tx/txfiles.htm ***************************************************************** Funeral Services Held Here Tuesday For Mrs. Annie Wilkins, Bronte Pioneer Mrs. Annie Wilkins, 82, Bronte pioneer, died at 7:20 pm Sunday in Bronte Hospital following a long illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in First Baptist Church, with the pastor, the Rev. Harry K, Morris, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Wayne N. Stout. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Newby Funeral Home. "Miss Annie" as she was known to all her friends, was born Aug. 2, 1889, in Coleman County. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.B. McCutchen. In September after her birth, she came with her parents to Bronte and had lived here since that time. The family had a prominent place in the building of the Bronte community, taking an active part in the establishment of the school and First Baptist Church, as well as in ranching and business matters. Mrs. Wilkins was married to Clint H. Wilkins Dec 23, 1911, in Bronte, He died Aug 2, 1949. Mrs. Wilkins was a member of the Baptist Church and the Woman's Progressive Club. Survivors include one son, Joe George Wilkins of Bronte; three grandchildren, Joe Don Wilkins, Jerry Wilkins, and Mrs. Rudy Phillips; and two great grand children. Pallbearers were Carroll Robbins, R.M. Andrews, Walter Phillips, C.B. Barbee, Edward Cumbie, and ????????
