Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday, May 22, in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Pam Bradford officiating. Burial followed in Robert Lee Cemetery, directed by Shaffer Funeral Home of Robert Lee. Mrs. Gilmore was born August 12, 1936 in Robert Lee. She was a graduate of Robert Lee High School and attended San Angelo College (now Angelo State University). Serving for 2 years as a deputy in the clerk's office in Coke County. She also held accounting and secretarial positions in San Angelo, Midland, and Abilene. She moved to San Angelo in 1969 and was appointed to the San Angelo city secretary post in 1974, holding that position until her death. San Angelo city manager Stephen Brown atcributed Mrs. Gilmore's success in her position to being endlessly efficient, her ability to work with people, and her cheerful outlook, an attitude which endured throughout her long bout with cancer. Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Bilbo of Robert Lee; one son, William Kyle Havins of Austin; one daughter, Rebecca Bell Gilmore of San Angelo; four sisters, Mrs. Lamar (Alta Bell) Kay of Alpmie, Mrs. Bob (Jamie) Boren of Robert Lee, Mrs. Jarvin (Jo Ann) Littlefield of Grove, Okla. and Mrs. Joe (Janet) Rathmell of Mertzon, 12 nieces and nephews, and 18 great-nieces and greatnephews. Nephews served as pallbearers for the services, including Jerry and Randy Littlefield of Grove, OK; Tom Boren, Odessa; John Boren, Snyder; Mark Kay, Odessa; and Steve Evans, Carlsbad.
