Memorial Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 22, in the First United Methodist Church with burial following in a Wichita Falls cemetery. Mrs. Perkins, 96, was born on Feb. 8, 1887 in McLennan County. She came to Coke County in 1890 with her parents, the late S. S. (Uncle Sink) and Mary Elizabeth (Scarborough) Craddock, who pioneered at Sanco. She was an early day school teacher in the area and was married to J. J. Perkins in Midland on March 27, 1918. He pre-deceased her on Sept. 15, 1960. Mrs. Perkins was a well-known philthropist. Two of her favorite projects were the Theological Seminary at SMU and the Methodist Children's Home in Waco. Her husband and son-in-law were the founders of the Perkins-Prothro Gas & Oil Properties near Silver. Her survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Elizabeth) Prothro of Wichita Falls; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Charles (Vela) Briscoe of Grandview; and many nieces and nephews, including Mrs. T. M. Wylie Jr. of Robert Lee.
