Eugene Glenn "Gene" Roberts, 61, of 2713 University, San Angelo, Texas, 
died May 13, 1982 at M. D. Anderson Hospital in Houston.  Services will 
be 11 a. m. Saturday in the First Christian Church with Dr. David Mindel 
officiating.  Burial will be in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens under the 
direction of Johnson's Funeral Home.

Roberts was born December 29, 1920 near Robert Lee.  The son of the late 
Ed S. Roberts and Bernice Havins. He graduated from Robert Lee High School, 
was a veteran of World War II, worked for Troy Laundry for 20 years, 
Prudential Life Insurance Co., for 18 years and retired in April 1981.  
He married Lucy Rawls Meadows, November 17, 1942 in San Angelo.  He was a 
member of the First Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife of San Angelo, a son, Jimmie Meadows of 
San Angelo; his mother Mrs. Bernice Roberts of Robert Lee; a brother, 
Travis Roberts of San Angelo; a niece Marla Giddins of San Angelo, and 
three grandsons.
