Bird of Sanco was buried on Tuesday near his home of eighty- seven years, where he was born in 1900 to a pioneering family. died last Saturday in West Coke County Nursing Home following a illness of about 1 1/2 years. West Coke County , Mrs. Bird was probably best known as a historian and poet; he wore many hats. He was a teacher, Methodist minister, an Army chaplain a , rancher, and newspaper publisher. At one time he was owner/publisher of the Robert Lee Observer and also wrote for the San Angelo Standard-Times and the Abilene Reporter-News.
