O. R. (LOLA RAWLINGS) McQUEEN Bronte - Mrs. O. R. (Lola Rawlings) McQueen, 92, of Bronte passed away Sunday, Feb. 11, in West Coke County Nursing Home in Robert Lee, where she had been a resident the past 25 months. Service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. R. W. Blackmon, longtime family friend, officiating and the Rev. Melvin Mathis, pastor, assisting. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Shaffer Funeral Home. Lola was born Jan. 20, 1898, north of Bronte on the Rawlings ranch to Edward Columbus and Mary Alice (Laswell) Rawlings, pioneer Coke County ranchers. She was married to O. R. "Ole Man" McQueen Jan. 29, 1920. He preceded her in death in January 1988. Lola and O. R. were longtime Coke County farmers and ranchers. Lola, in early years while her health permitted, was an active member of the First Methodist Church. Some of her most pleasant memories were the times she spent with the other Methodist ladies feeding the Lions Club. Lola was a past president and charter member of the Diversified Club. She had also been an active member of the Bronte H. D. Club. Lola was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, C. T. and Ed C. Rawlings; and three sisters, Edna Butner, Elizabeth Carter and Mabel Box. Survivors include a daughter, Mary and husband, Paul McGuire; two granddaughters, Barbara Anne Good and husband, Jim, of Vancouver, Wash., and Paula Ruth Rogers and husband, Hugh, of San Antonio; one grandson, John Paul McGuire and wife, Kathy, of San Antonio; three great-grandsons, Jason Barnett, Ryan John McGuire and Mac Lee Rogers; two great-granddaughters, Jennifer Rogers and Teresa Guyton; one great-great-grandson, Justin Guyton; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbeareres will be E. L. Champion, W. H. Maxwell, J. Lee Insor, Noel Percifull, Roy Blair and Dwain Pruitt.
