Services were conducted Thursday, January 31, at 1:30 pm at The First Baptist Church in Bronte. Officiating at the services were Rev. Garry Bivins and Rev. R. W. Blackmon. Burial was in Tuscola Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home of Tuscola. Mrs. Hicks was born February 13, 1922, in Quitman, Arkansas. She married Pershing Hicks, Sr. in Tuscola in 1939. Mr. Hicks preceded her in death in 1975. The couple had lived in Tuscola and Arizona before moving to Big Lake in 1950, and to Bronte in 1974. Survivors include her mother, Florence Johnston of Quitman, Arkansas; one daughter, Eva Jo Lee, of Irving; two sons, Pershing Hicks, Jr. of O'Fallon, Illinois, and Jerry M. Hicks of Stillwater, Minnesota; four sisters; four brothers; six grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren. Pallbearers were grandchildren Connie L. Pool, Kerry D.
