Obituary: Garland O. Good, January 4, 1993 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines Oct 2015 *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Coke County, TX, January, 1993 Mrs. Garland O. Good Funeral services for Mrs. Garland O. Good were held January 5, 1993 at 2 pm in Lacy Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Mission Gardens of Memory, Stephenville, TX. Mrs. Good was a resident at Mayberry Manor at the time of her death January 4, 1993, and was the daughter of the late John Weaver and Natalie Higginbotham Mitchell and granddaughter of Thomas Augusta and Sara Alveritta Dean Higginbotham, early day pioneers of Coke County. Mrs. Good was born September 9, 1902 in Bronte and graduated from Bronte High School. She was married to Paul Good of Tennyson area August 26, 1919 in Sweetwater, TX. Mr. Good was deputy sheriff for 14 years and elected sheriff in 1947, serving Coke County more than 30 years. She was a clerk in the Sheriff's office. They retired from the Sheriff's office in 1960 and moved to their ranch in Erath County. They loved ranching and always had a special love and dedication for their church, First Baptist Church of Stephenville. Paul died July 12, 1980. Mrs. Good made her home at 2123 Crestridge, Stephenville, until 1990 when she became a resident of the Manor. Survivors include a daughter, Katie Sue, and husband Fred Parker of Stephenville; one son, Eddie Paul and wife Billie of Plano; two sisters, Ms. Faye Scott and Ms. Beatrice Collins of Bronte and one brother, Weaver J. Mitchell of Corpus Christi; three grand children, Fred Bruce Parker, Stephenville; William Parker, Hico; and Kevin Good, Plano; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, T. A. Mitchell, one sister, Imola Lee and one grandson, Kyle Good. Local people attending the service were Paul Pruitt, Norton; Noah and Dorthey Pruitt, Bronte; Bill Allen, Robert Lee; and Kenneth and Linda Scott of Odessa. Officiating clergy was the Rev. Emil V. Becker, former pastor. Casket bearers were Leo Purvis, Kenneth Lesley, M. C.
