Obituary: Loyd Alfred Payne, June 11, 1993 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines January 2011 *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Robert Lee, Coke County, TX - June 18, 1993 PAYNE Loyd Alfred Payne Graveside funeral service was held at 10 am Monday, June 14, 1993, in Robert Lee Cemetery. Greg Fleming, Southside Church of Christ minister, officiated the service which was directed by Shaffer Funeral Home. Mr. Payne, 74, died at his home in Robert Lee Friday June 11. He was born January 24, 1919 in Coke County to William A. and Mary E. Payne. He was a lifetime resident of the county except for the time spent in the United States Army in World War II and when he worked in the oil fields in the Odessa area. The remainder of his adult life was spent stock farming near Robert Lee. His survivors include one brother, William A. "Lonnie" Payne, Jr. of Robert Lee; eleven nieces and nephews; and nineteen great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Barney Payne and Morris Payne; and two sisters, Irene Reed and Alta Mae Snyder.
