Services were held October 1, 1997 at First Baptist Church in Anson with the Rev. Mike Walton Officiating. Burial followed at 4:00 pm in Menard Cemetery in Menard, Texas He is survived by wife, Hazel, 2 sons and daugher-in-laws, William and Rose Walston and David and Jane Walston and one brother Cecil Dea Walston, 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Dayton taught at RLHS during the 1941-42 school year. During his term, three of his football players were killed in an automobile accident December 5, 1941, Jack Deen Tubb, Lloyd Higgins, and Jackie Boy Latham.
