BENSON Martin H. Benson, 82, of San Angelo died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, in Robert Lee Care Center. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8, in Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. Martin was born March 11, 1918, in Runnels County to C.C. and Grace Benson. Martin was a resident of San Angelo since 1954 and was a retired car salesman, earning several awards and was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the Church of Christ for which he served as an elder and deacon for 20 years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by his family and many friends. Martin was married to Tommie Riddle on Jan. 2, 1937, in San Angelo. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Tommie Benson of San Angelo; three children, Bill Benson and wife, Beverly, Lynell Seaton and husband, John, and Larry Benson and wife, Ginny, all of San Angelo; one sister, Trudy Gresham of Odessa; five grandchildren, Tammy Wankowski of Okinawa, Japan, Billy Benson Jr. and Therran Benson, both of San Angelo, Dawn Wessman of Knoxville, Tenn., and Josh Seaton of Sugar Land; and six great-grandchildren.
