He was reared and educated in Midland, graduated from Midland High in 2001. While attending high school, he was a member of the school band. Emmitt was employed by Lewellen Construction Company in Midland and was scheduled to enter the Army Reserves on January 4, 2002. He accepted Christ at the age of six and went home to be with the Lord on December 30, 2001. Emmitt is survived by his parents: sister and brother-in-law. Heather and Wesley Kemp, all of Midland; paternal grandparents, Elton and Fredna Moore of Bronte, Texas; maternal grandparents, J. D. and Chrisstine Williams of Midland; aunts and uncles, Kent and Melissa Moore of Snyder, Tx; Keith and Rhonda Greenwood of Midland, Tx; Steve and Margie Burg of Mesquite, Tx; Pervis and Donna Williams of Midland, Tx, and Wesley Williams also of Midland. Fifteen cousins and numerous aunts and uncles and other relatives from around the country also survive him. On January 3, 2002, funeral services were conducted at the Ellis Funeral Home chapel by Dr. Darrel Martin, pastor of Temple Baptist Church where Emmitt was a member since he accepted Christ. Interment was at Rest- haven Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Shawn Sanders, Vick Hutchinson, Josh Patterson, Shilo Richardson, Brian Osha, David Wright and Wayne Ruddick. Honorary pallbearers were Josh Johnson, Matt Horton and Rusty Whited. All around Emmitt there was much love because Emmitt gave much love as his he demonstrated in the following poem of salvation. ARE YOU SAVED I lived my life in total sin I didn't care about the end. I didn't think about my behavior, Until I found Jesus Christ as my savior. Learning about how he died. But knowing he is there all the time. Hearing about Calvary and the cross. Throwing sins away with just Are we worth the greatest gift, living life not too stiff. It might have been in the past. But how long will that last. Good is coming back you know. And what do we have to show But sit back and ask a question, Before it's too late for a last confession. Now think real hard from your hearts. Before it's ripped apart. Don't wait for the end of days, I'm just asking "Are you Saved?"
