"Bud" Thetford went home to be with the Lord, Sunday night after suffering a massive stroke ten days earlier. Services were held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at the First United Methodist Church of Robert Lee. Burial followed in Paint Creek Cemetery under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Judge Thetford is survived by his wife, Madeleine Thetford of San Angelo; three children, Walter W. "Terry" Thetford, III of San Angelo, Linda King of Spicewood and Douglas A. Thetford of San Angelo; a sister, Opal May Vest of Hatch, New Mexico; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and ten nieces and nephews.
