Barfield of Robert Lee died Monday September 2, 2002, at his home. Services were held at 2:00 pm Thursday, September 5, 2002, at the Robert Lee Baptist Church, officiated by Wade Messer. Burial followed at 4:00 pm in the Sweetwater City Cemetery. Arrangements were by Shaffer Funeral Home. Billy was born the only child to W. E. and Francis Barfield in Sweetwater on October 31, 1925. He graduated from Sweetwater High School and attended Texas A&M University, where he graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Billy worked in the USA and overseas with Halliburton before retiring to Robert Lee in 1985. Survivors include four daughters, Kay Stratton of Waxahachie, Karol Coker of Hereford, Lisa Hanson of Havre, MT, and Susan Perez of Hamlin; one grand-daughter of the home, Rachelle Mills; ten grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
