Katie was born March 20, 1906, in Fort Worth to Randolph and Lula Snaer. She graduated high school in Breckenridge, Texas, where she met and later married George Harold Blackwood. They moved to San Angelo in 1932. He preceded her in death after 43 years of marriage. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Cathedral Choir and Alter Society and had logged more than 2,000 as a volunteer with St. John’s Hospital. She loved traveling, needlework, reading, music and gardening. Katie is survived by two sons, Robert Blackwood and wife, Sonja, of Robert Lee and William Blackwood of Spur, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Irene Cox; and a son, George Jr. The family wishes to thank the staff at East Coke County Hospital in Robert Lee for their excellent care of our grandmother.
