"Dunk" Duncan, passed away on March 14, 2002, in Bronte, Texas. Dunk was born March 8, 1928, in Winters, Texas to Ronald and Opal Duncan. He graduated from Winters High School and attended Tarleton State University and Texas Tech University. He served in the United States Army for two years at Fort Leonardwood, MO, and Fort Collins, CO, from 1950 to 1952 and married Mary Maggie Thomas in Little Rock, AR, on September 22, 1951. He was a banker, working in Levelland, Post, Beaumont and Plainview before becoming a rancher in Bronte in 1971. Dunk was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the Lions Clubs' of Post, Beaumont, and Plainview. He served on the Farm Bureau Board of Coke/Sterling County and Kickapoo Water Board. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary on December 31, 1997 and his parents, Ronald and Opal Duncan of Lubbock. Dunk is survived by one daughter, Marsha Blair and husband, Curtis Blair of Lub­bock; one son, Mark Duncan and wife, Quinda Duncan of Bronte; three grandchildren, Dana Brewer and husband, Casey of Lubbock, Chad Duncan and wife, Jana of San Angelo, and Darby Marydith Duncan of Bronte. Services were held at 2:00 pm Sunday, March 17, 2002, at the First United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Lakeview Cemetery in Win­ters.
