Buddy was born on Oct. 3, 1928, in Slaton, Texas, to Albert and Zula Mae Hoffman. He attended school in Slaton. Buddy was a contract builder in California from 1954-70. He continued to enjoy building and repairing buildings his entire life. He will be remembered for baking bread and raising fruits and vegetables to give to neighbors and friends. He married Joyce Ross of Slaton, Dec. 22, 1978. He is survived by sons, Roger and his wife, Ava, of Midland, Travis and wife, Lorrie, of Tacoma, Wash., and Russell and wife, Susan, of Midland; daughters, Rhonda Eimmers and husband, Dennis, of Midland, Linda Barker and husband, Gary, of Midland and Demetra Johns and husband, Lonnie, of Midland; 16 grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; and one brother, Albert Leo Hoffman of Roscoe. Buddy was a member of First Baptist Church of Bronte, Bronte Masonic Lodge and Slaton Masonic Lodge. In keeping with his wishes, he donated his body for medical studies to the Texas Tech University Health Science Center. Visitation is to be held from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at Shaffer Funeral Home, 509 State Street, Bronte, Texas. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at First Baptist Church in Bronte. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Texas Tech University Health Science Center, the American Heart Association, Memorial Fund of First Baptist Church of Bronte or the charity of your choice.
