Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm Thursday, November 21, 2002, at Emmanuel Pentecostal Church in Robert Lee with Brother Ray Aldridge officiating. Burial followed in the Robert Lee Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Erma Hudman was born July 6, 1917 in Gatesville, Texas to Ray and Beulah Blackstock and was raised in Moran, Texas. She married B. W. “Ben” Hudman on October 3, 1933 in Walters, Oklahoma and spent her life as a devoted wife and loving mother of five daughters. Mrs. Hudman was preceded in death by her husband and parents, seven brothers, one sister, one grandson, two daughters, Peggy Nichols Of Odessa, Texas and Linda Cook of Andrews, Texas. She is survived by three daughters, Nita James and husband, O’Neil of Midland, Texas, Carolyn Rolison and husband, James of Athens, Alabama, and Bennie Glover and husband, Roger of Los Alamos, NM; two sisters, Dorothy “Sally” Dean of Lubbock, Texas and Bernice Petty of Breckenridge, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren; 3 nephews and 1 niece. Erma was an active and devoted member of the Emmanuel Pentecostal Church of Robert Lee, having taught and guided many children as a Sunday School Teacher during her lifetime. She lived in several West Texas towns and settled in Robert Lee in her retirement years. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Mike Clements of Odessa, Dick Leonard of Blackwell, Tommy Robinson of Robert Lee, Lynn Ballard of Loving, New Mexico, Greg Glover of Los Alamos, New Mexico and Jody Kindred of Woodward, OK, Justin Harendt of Shep. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Robert Lee Care Center, 307 West 8th, Robert Lee, Texas 76945.
