This Week's Obituaries - 08/18/02 to 08/24/02 CHARLES ROBERT OLIPHANT Shaffer Funeral Home BRONTE — Charles Robert Oliphant was born in Bronte, Texas, to Charles Paul and Ida Lou Oliphant on Jan. 2, 1955. Charlie, as he was known to his many friends, passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 19, 2002. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Floyd and Mable Modgling, and Minnie Lee Coffman. He is survived by his mother, Ida Lou Oliphant; brother and sister-in-law, Michael Neal and Christine; niece, Sarah Elizabeth; and aunts, uncles and many cousins. Most of Charlie’s occupation was spent working the family ranch, which he loved. Graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
