She died October 22, 2002. She married Blake Kanyon Pitcock July 27, 2002 in Robert Lee. They made their home southwest of Robert Lee. She graduated from Midland Christian High School in 1996. Sara graduated from Midland College in 1998 and from Howard College in 2000 with a degree in Dental Hygiene. She was a dental hygienist in Ballinger and San Angelo. Sara was a beautiful, loving, compassionate person to children, senior adults, and animals. She was like a “magnet” as she drew people to her and always had a hug or kind word or her beautiful smile for everyone. She was a light when she walked into someone’s life. She had touched so many lives in a very positive manner, that won’t be forgotten. Sara leaves behind to cherish her memory a host of friends all over Texas. She is survived by her husband, Blake of Robert Lee; parents, Price and Janell Parker of Midland; sister, Dr. Sandra Parker of Monroe LA; and precious nephew and niece Caleb and Anna Parker of Monroe. A memorial service will be in Midland on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 10:00 am at Fairmont Church of Christ. Services at Robert Lee will be at 4 pm Thursday, at Robert Lee Baptist Church with burial in Robert Lee Cemetery. Arrangements are by Shaffer Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Midland Christian School, 2001 Culver, Midland, Texas, 79705 or to a charity of one’s choice. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Local woman killed in early morning accident Sara Pitcock, 24, of Robert Lee died of injuries she sustained in a near head-on collision early Tuesday morning. Pitcock, a dental hygienist who commutes to work in San Angelo and Ballinger, was driving south on about six miles from Robert Lee, when her vehicle apparently crossed the center median, and collided with a north-bound four door Chevrolet pickup. Pitcock's vehicle burst into flames upon impact, and the passengers in the other vehicle were unable to rescue her. The men in the Chevrolet pickup were enroute to enroute to Robert lee to work on a carpentry job. The driver, 29 year-Qld Austin Grantham, sustained head injuries and at least one broken leg. His brother, 31-year-old Shannon Grantham, Alfred Spencer, 46, and Robert Greathouse, 30, were also injured in the accident. All four were taken to Shannon Medical Center. DPS trooper Scott Frasier, who investigated the accident, said that the dense early morning fog could have been the cause of the accident, but that the actual factors may never be known. EMS teams from both Bronte and Robert Lee were dispatched to the site, along with members of the Robert Lee Volunteer Fire Department. After the flames were extinguished in one vehicle, the "Jaws of Life" from both Robert, Lee and Bronte were used to extract the -trapped driver of the Chevrolet pickup. The Coke County Sheriff's Department diverted traffic around; the accident scene for about 3 1/2 hours as DPS officials were summoned to investigate the accident scene. Mrs. Pitcock graduated from Midland Christian High School in 1996. She graduated from Midland College in 1998, and earned a degree in dental hygiene from Howard College in 2000. She was married to Robert Lee native Blake Pitcock on July 27, 2002. A memorial,service will be held in Midland on Thursday, Oct. 24, 10:00 am, at Fairmont Church of Christ, with services in Robert Lee that afternoon at 4:00 pm at the Robert Lee Baptist Church.
