Service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at Johnson’s Funeral Home in San Angelo, Texas. Burial will be in Belvedere Cemetery. Agnes was born Oct. 11, 1912, in Bronte, Texas, to John Stonewall Brown and Ethel Cecil Haney Brown. She married William Albert (W.A.) Stewart in Millersview, Texas, on Nov. 6, 1928. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, W.A. Stewart; two children, Opal Pauline Stewart and William Albert Stewart Jr.; two brothers, David Beary Brown and Roger Roland Brown, both of California; and three sisters, Mary Beaulah Snodgrass and Vivieon Addison Helbert, both of San Angelo, and Juanita Yvonne Sharp of Crane, Texas. Agnes is survived by three sons and three daughters, Alberta Louise Scroggins of Whitehouse, Texas, John Henry Stewart of San Angelo, Texas, Alford Cecil Stewart of Fort McKavet, Texas, Katherine Agnes Taylor of San Angelo, Texas, Evelyn Ruth Owens of Merkel, Texas, and Joe Kye Stewart of Houston, Texas; 20 grandchildren; and several great- grandchildren. She was a homemaker and employed at several San Angelo school cafeterias in her younger years. She lived in San Angelo over 60 years and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She was a woman that encountered many hard times and trials supported by her strength given by our Heavenly Father and her beloved spouse and family. Many family members and friends will miss her.
