Aycock, 75, a longtime resident of Robert Lee, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 23, 2003. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 25, officiated by the Rev. Steve Rowe in Robert Lee Cemetery. Johnny was born in Plainview, Texas, on Oct. 26, 1927, to George and Nannie Lee Aycock. He was preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers and sisters, one grandson, Johnathan Aycock and son, Terry Aycock. He was a graduate of Lockney High School. He enlisted in the Army at the age of 17 following graduation and received an Honorable Discharge in 1947. He retired after 20 years plus in the oil field as a drilling supervisor for Arco Oil & Gas out of Odessa, Texas. Johnny spent his retirement years enjoying his passion for fishing. Survivors include nephews, Steve Aycock and wife, Kandi, of Amarillo and Kenneth Aycock of Hereford; and four great-nephews, Jeffrey, Allan, Dustin and Austin. He is also survived by his beloved companion and best friend of 20 years, G.K. “Babe” Rutledge; her children, Raymond Rutledge and wife, Donna, Kathy White and husband, Dana, and Jo Ann Wilkinson and husband, Mark, along with their children, Chad Rutledge, Valarie Marshall, Robert and Kimberly Kuhns and Blaine Wilkinson who have always thought of him as their special Dad and Granddad and will always cherish every memory they have of him. We would like to extend a special thank you to our family angel, Donna Rutledge for the many hours of care she gave so lovingly to Johnny during his recent illness. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Dr. John Granaghan and his staff, the staff at the Regency House, SCCI Hospital and Outreach Health Services, and Betty Barrett from Robert Lee.
