CALVERT Lois L. Calvert, 91, of Odessa and formerly of Robert Lee, died in the Deerings Nursing Home in Odessa on Monday, August 11, 2003. Graveside services were held on Thursday, August 14, 2003, at 2:30 pm in the Robert Lee Cemetery. Arrangements were by Shaffer- Nichols Funeral Home of Crane. Mrs. Calvert was born on December 17, 1911 in Coke County, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Robert Lee. Mrs. Calvert's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Murray, were early settlers of Coke County in which L. B. served as Sheriff in the late 1800's. Her father, J. W. Barnett, came from Kentucky, where he taught school, and served as county clerk during the same years as L. B. He was known for his beautiful penmanship. He married L. B.'s daughter, Exer Murray. They were store owners and sheep ranchers. They had four children, Susie, Verna, William (Bill), and the youngest, Lois. Mrs. Calvert is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John William Barnett, her husband, William L. Calvert, a son, Finis Leonard Calvert, 3 sisters and 1 brother. She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie Bollier of Odessa, Texas; 5 grandchildren, Randy Allison and his wife, Debbie of Crowley, Texas, Mel Allison and his wife, Marsha of Odessa, Loye Marrs of Odessa, Carol Gillen of Grand Prairie, and Tonya Simms of Irving; 10 great-grandchildren, Jeff Marrs of Lubbock, Landen and Darren Marrs both of Odessa, Brandon Allison of Keller, Michael and Nicholas Simms both of Irving, Amber Taylor and Chance Gillen, both of Grand Prairie, and Courney Simms, and Heather Malone both of Irving.
