A graveside memorial was held on Wednesday, Sept. 3, in Robert Lee. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mindy and Ed Wright of Gardendale; grandson Jeb Wright of Ft. Worth; granddaughter and husband Danya and Jerrod Patrick of Hondo; brother Don Hester of Tulsa; brother-in-law Jim Wilson of Robert Lee; nephews Matt Wilson, Michael Wilson and Brian Hester of San Angelo, and niece Lee Ann Hines of Clyde. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Marie Hester and her sister, Joyce Wilson. Known by friends and family as "Sandy", she will be greatly missed. Sandy loved nothing better than having family get-togethers. Sandy's wacky sense of humor was one of our favorite things about her. Her cousin Joan Davis remembers Sandy as being a very attractive girl and woman. Sandy was born in Robert Lee in 1934 and graduated from RLHS in 1952. Her family was very proud of her accomplishments; she attended classes at ASU and became an EEG/EKG technician at St. John's Hospital in San Angelo, where she worked until she retired. Although she faced life-long health problems, Sandy faced them without complaint. She was an avid reader and a genuine "Trekkie" - a fan of Star Trek. Her greatest adventure was being able to live in Germany for three years in the 1960's. Sandy enjoyed geneology and loved watching ice-skating, ballet and gymnastics, and in true pioneer spirit often said she would have loved going to outer space. Sandy took great pride in the accomplishments of her daughter, Mindy, and was her greatest fan. She was also extremely proud of her grandson, Jeb, who treated his "GraMom" to a guitar playing session on his last visit. Sandy attended her granddaughter Danya's wedding in 2001, and had wedding phtos on prominent display in her home. Although we mourn her passing and will miss her so very much, we know Sandy has gone to a better place with the Lord.
