The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Robert Lee, Coke County, TX - August 15, 2003 BERTIE RUE LEE Bertie Rue Lee, 83, was born June 30, 1920, in Hunt County, Texas, and went to her Heavenly Father and loved ones, Saturday, August 9, 2003, in Shannon West Texas Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held at 10 am Tuesday, Aug. 12, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Broyles officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery in Bronte. Arrangements were by Rains- Seale Funeral Home of Ballinger. Bertie was born to Walter Monroe Bryant and Jessie Jewell Moseley Bryant. She married Lester Claud Lee on Oct. 7, 1939, in Ballinger, Texas. Mrs. Lee was homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Ballinger. She was extremely active in her church, serving as a teacher of the Mary Margaret Class for a period of time and as chairman of the bereavement committee. She was active in the Woman's Missionary Union and was a past president of the WMU and has served as a delegate to the Baptist Convention for the WMU. The joy of her life was her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren, whom she prayed for by name every day. She is survived by a sister, Helen Sibley of Commerce, Texas; son, Wendell Lee and wife, Jeanna, of Bronte; son Joe Lee and wife, Dorothy of Killeen, Texas; daughter, Carol Baugust and husband, Bobby, of Tucson, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Ed and Dorothy Dankworth of Ballinger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; a son, Louis; and a grandson, Troy Lee. Grandsons served as honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be sent to the First Baptist Church of Bronte.
