Graveside services were held on Friday, May 30, in the Robert Lee Cemetery. Arrangements were by Shaffer Funeral Home. Mrs. McDonald was born September 23, 1921 in Navarro, Texas to John and Dove Allen. She graduated from Pyote High School, Pyote, Texas in 1928 at the age of 16. She married Ray E. McDonald on April 26, 1946 in Conroe, Texas. They moved to Robert Lee in 1960 and resided there since that date. She worked as a waitress for many years in Robert Lee. She was an excellent seamstress and loved making quilts for her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987 and also two brothers, Bruce Allen and Cecil Allen and son-in-law, John Vance. Survivors include her two daughters, Johnnie Vance of DeQueen, Arkansas, and Jerry Mathers and husband, Kenneth of Anson; and sister, Billie Ross and husband, Wallace of Bangs; four grandchildren, Amy Mathers of Anson, Jill Vance Smith and husband Erik Smith of DeQueen, Arkansas, Turner Vance and wife Brooks of DeQueen, Arkansas; and Upton Mathers of Anson, Texas and several nieces and nephews.
