Murl was born May 4, 1912 in Paducah, Texas. He was a longtime resident of Coke County, living here most of his life. He married Pearlie Mae Warner on September 19, 1938. He did some farming and ranching in his early years before he went to work for the railroad. He retired from Santa Fe Railroad after 30 years. His hobbies were hunting and fishing. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Ellen Andrews; a sister, Gladys Markwood; and a brother, A. V. Andrews. Murl is survived by his wife of 65 years, 6 months and 4 days, Pearlie Mae Andrews of Bronte; two sons, James Vernon and wife, Judie of Edith and Don Andrews and wife, Lidia of Del Rio; one daughter, Tricia DuBois and husband, Doug of Austin; grandsons, Bruce Andrews of San Angelo, Justin Andrews and wife, Earline of San Angelo, Richard Andrews and wife, Kristy of Ballinger, and Mark Simon Andrews of Del Rio; granddaughters, Gail Perry and husband, Mitch of Dallas and Debbie El Chami and husband, Sami of Dallas. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Katherine Perry of Dallas, Jimmy Joe Andrews of San Angelo, Destiny Andrews of San Angelo, Nadia El Chami of Dallas, Colter Reed Andrews of Ballinger; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation was held at Shaffer Funeral Home in Bronte on Sunday, from 7 to 8 pm. Funeral services were held at 10:00 am Monday, April 5, 2004 at the Central Baptist Church. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery in Bronte. Pallbearers were his grandsons and Buddy Walker. Honorary pallbearers were his old time coffee drinking friends from the Town and Country. Services were under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. The family requests that memroials be made to the East Coke County EMS.
