Juan was born on March 24, 1921 in Zaragosa, Coah., Mexico. A resident of Robert Lee since 1948, Juan worked as a ranch foreman for J. O. Rudd on the Butterfield Peak Ranch from 1948-1980. He was later employed by Wayne McCabe and by Dr. Blackburn at the Canyon Ranch. He is preceded in death by his parents, Catarino Galvan and Felicitas Pinaels Galvan; his son, Rodolfo Galvan; two sisters, Maria Rivas and Juana Eva; two brothers, Jose Galvan & Felix Galvan; his first wife, Maria del Refugio Garza; and his brother-in-law, Jesus Rocha. Survivors include his wife, Sotera Ramos Galvan of Robert Lee; his daughters, Maria Galvan Rodriquez and husband Mike Rodriquez of Robert Lee; Martha Trejo and husband, Abelino Trejo of Robert Lee, Maria Zamora and husband, Evelio Zamora of Decatur, TX, and Josephine Rocha of Robert Lee; sister, Margarita Romo and husband, Chuy Romo of Florida; brothers, Pedro Galvan and wife, Margarita Galvan of San Angelo and Jesus Galvan; eleven grandchildren; seven great grand-children; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and newphews. Funeral service was held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at the Robert Lee Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Robert Lee Hispanic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joe Longoria, Catarino Galvan, Martin Galvan, Carlos Galvan, Martin Ybarra, and Jesus Galvan. Services were under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
