All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/tx/txfiles.htm *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Robert Lee, Coke County, TX - March 19, 2004 HARMON LaRue Harmon, 89, of Robert Lee passed away on Wednesday, Mar 10, 2004 at the Robert Lee Care Center. Family visitation was held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Friday, March 12, 2004 at the funer home. Funeral service was held at 10:00 am Saturday, March 13, 2004 at the Robert Lee Baptist Church officiated by Dale Patterson and Mike Burson. Burial followed in the Paint Creek Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. LaRue was born September 22, 1914 to Joe and Eva McAuley Field of Robert Lee. Her mother passed away when she was five years old and she was raised by her step-mother, Virginia "Jenny" Field. She married Finis Harmon June 11, 1936 in Robert Lee. They were married 58 years. LaRue was a native of Robert Lee and spent most of her life here except for a short stay in Sterling City while Finis worked on a ranch. LaRue's roots run deep in Coke County. Her grandfather, G. C. Field started the first Methodist Church in Robert Lee many years ago. She was well known for her work in food service, working at the Water Valley schools, the Green Mountain schools, the Robert Lee schools and then for the Robert Lee Nursing Home. There are some students that can swear they can still smell her peanut butter cookies baking. LaRue was a long time member of the Pecan Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Finis Harmon. LaRue is survived by her son, William Joe Harmon and wife, Julia Ann of Southlake, Texas and two grandsons, Joey Harmon and wife Dee Anna and Ronnie Harmon and wife, Cari. She is also survived by numerous niences and nephews that she loved so dearly. The family would like to say Thank You to the Robert Lee Care Cednter for the special care and love that was shown to LaRue during her stay there. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, Pecan Baptist Church, Robert Lee Care Center, or VistaCare Hospice Foundation, 940B Arroyo, San Angelo, TX 76903.
