All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/tx/txfiles.htm *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Robert Lee, Coke County, TX - January 8, 2010 LASSWELL Robert Columbus "Lum" Lasswell went to be with his Lord on December 22, 2009. He was 101 years of age. Lum was born Oct 10, 1908 in Coke County to Milton Eugene and Mary Pruitt Lasswell. Lum lived most of his life on the Lasswell land near Fort Chadbourne, Texas. He called himself a stock farmer and always said it was the best life one could choose. In his later years, he enjoyed building things with wood and left behind many projects for family and friends to treasure. Lum loved his Lord and faithfully worked at many different jobs over a long life of service at First United Baptist Church of Bronte. Teaching Sunday school was a special joy to him. Lum married Mildred Hayley on November 27, 1930. Together they raised two children, Robert E.(Bob) and Mary Linda. Mildred preceded him in death in 1977. He then married Virginia Walling who preceded him in death in 1996. Lum was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Melvin, and his sisters Lora, Elsie and Myrtle. Lum is survived by his son, Robert E. Lasswell and wife, Stella; his daughter Mary Linda Simpson and husband, Robert of San Angelo; grandchildren, Bryan Lasswell and wife, M'Linda of Galveston, Sharla Fitzgerald and husband, Reid of Fairoaks Ranch, Lita Bradley and husband, Paul of San Angelo, and Stacy Simpson of San Angelo; great-grandchildren Reese and Reagan Lasswell, Robert, Patrick and Ethan Fitzgerald and Brandon and Jennifer Davis; and great-great granddaughter Calista Davis. The family wishes to thank all the employees of the Bronte Health and Rehab Center for their loving and compassionate care.
